Collector profile Wietze Veld

Wietze Veld
Hi, my name is Wietze Veld, from The Netherlands.
I have been collecting unused crown caps since December 1992 and have collected since then several thousand pieces. The reason why I started collecting crown caps came out of my interest for beer labels. I started collecting Dutch beer labels in 1988 and came in contact with other beer labels collectors and collectors of other beer related things a.k.a. breweriana.
Because of this I remembered that in the harbour area near the neighbourhood I live in, a factory was situated that made crown caps. In my childhood I always played there and some times took with me some crown caps that I found there to play games with. From then on ,summer 1992, I went on a weekly basis by the factory to look if there were some interesting (beer) crown caps to be found which I could then exchange for beer labels with other collectors. I got so fascinated by those crown caps that I decided to collect crown caps. The fact that I only found unused crown caps at the factorysite made me decide to collect only unused crown caps. Some time later I got in contact with other collectors and exchanged crown caps with some 50 collectors from around the world.
After a break from crown cap collecting (1999 - 2004) I re-entered the world of crown cap collecting in november 2004.
Collection
Because of the magnitude of my collecting area, in 2006 a decision was made to limit my collection interests to the following areas: (Unused Only)
- Holland
- USA
- Canada
- Factory crowns
- Foreign Heineken (brewed under license), only if they look different from standard crowns
- Foreign Amstel (brewed under license), only if they look different from standard crowns
- Foreign Budweiser (brewed under license), only if they look different from standard crowns
I am not as fanatic as I used to be, but I am still very enthusiastic about crown caps. I am taking it very slow, but I am always in for a trade, expecially when it concerns the speciality in my collection, factory crowns.
The most valuable crown cap, for me, is a crowncap from the Heineken Brewery in Indonesia (which was then a Dutch colony).
Although I do not always send a quick reply I have traded with a lot of collectors with success and I hope to trade with more collectors in the future. I can offer many different used and unused crowncaps.
Many are made by Crown Cork Company Holland B.V.
