Tax crown

From Crownpedia

A Tax Crown is a cap used for bottling beer that requires a state tax to be paid upon purchase/bottling. Tax crowns are usually produced by the bottler. Both international and US caps will have the names of states printed prominently on them, the name of the state showing that that beer tax has been paid. Many times they have the brand written on them, and the state is written in small letters. Sometimes the name of the state is found on the skirt. Older caps (from the 70's and earlier) used a symbol for different states. Sometimes, different states would have their own style of cap. For instance, US beer caps with a big keystone are from Pennsylvania, and beer caps (usually blue) with the text written in a circle are from Ohio. Louisiana also had/has Soft drink tax crowns (LTP on the crown, Louisiana Tax Paid)
